I write and make art about science, climate and the environment.

I am a journalist covering climate and energy policy at Carbon Brief, a website that specialises in clear, data-driven analysis of everything to do with climate change.

Before taking up my current position I was science correspondent at The Independent, mainly covering environmental issues like climate change, air pollution and threats to global wildlife.

Previously I worked as a freelance writer for the BBC, New Scientist, Nautilus, Hakai Magazine, Audubon and other great purveyors of science and nature.

I largely make art about the same kinds of things I write about. Oil paintings of humans, woodblock prints of wildlife, ink drawings of museum specimens - that kind of thing.

I'm interested in natural history illustration and other places where art and biology meet, as well as portraiture.
